The Shwayder Camp Recreation Hall is a very unique job that FMP Construction was contracted for. This building presented many challenges, mainly because of the location. The camp sits at roughly 11,000 feet above sea level above the town of Idaho Springs, CO. Alongside very short building seasons, you are also dealing with the weather, wildlife and much more pre-planning than a normal job in the city!
This project, completed in the summer of 2019, is a steel building frame but instead of wrapping the frame in steel panels, the owner wanted to keep the theme of a "mountain cabin look." The building exterior is wrapped in custom milled log siding along with a row of Hardie Shingles. The interior of the building features a middle school sized basketball court, a full-height climbing wall and custom log siding.
